Rain Delays Coca-Cola 600

Christopher Bell Claims Victory in Shortened Event

Inclement weather forced the postponement of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday night.

With just 151 laps remaining in the 65th running of the race, heavy rain and lightning forced NASCAR officials to red flag the event. Christopher Bell, who was leading at the time of the stoppage, was declared the winner of the rain-shortened race.

The Coca-Cola 600 is one of the most prestigious races on the NASCAR Cup Series calendar. It is the longest race of the season, with a distance of 600 miles. This year's race was particularly significant as it was the first time the event had been held without fans in attendance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The rain delay is a disappointing setback for NASCAR and the fans, but safety is always the top priority. The race will resume on Monday at 7 p.m. ET, weather permitting.
